Roach under 18’s travelled to Atherton on Sunday and brought all three points back to Heywood with a comfortable and convincing victory. The open age second team continued their push for promotion with a hard fought win over Rossendale on Saturday. For the first half hour, both teams battled hard, and chances were created at either end, but Roach took the lead when Ross Jones slid the ball past the opposing keeper. A penalty for the home side followed, but the Rossendale keeper guessed right and at the interval it remained 1-0. With no more than 2 minutes on the clock, Roach burst forward, Josh Brooks and Curtis Newsham finding Kieran McIlvenny who outpaced the defender to smash the ball past the Woodbank keeper to give Roach the lead. Less than 2 minutes later and good work from Ethan Armstrong once again found McIlvenny in space and he doubled the lead for Roach. Roach Dynamos under 10s were in exceptional form yet again on Saturday 20th of February against a strong Marauders Tornadoes side that are also up there challenging for the Premiership title. Roach Dynamos Under 7 Blacks played host to Woodbank looking to make it three wins on the bounce. Roach started slowly however Woodbank were unable to take advantage of this and Roach were spurred into life when Curtis Newsham mesmorised the Woodbank defence and saw his shot agonisingly hit the post and come back out. Roach stepped up a gear now and were camped inside the Woodbank half, Newsham and Josh Brooks linked well [...more] The open age second team entertained Tottington, the team that they beat last week in a 6-5 thriller. This week, it was more of the same, but with even more goals. Full back Adam Kennedy opened the scoring for Roach on ten minutes, and on the end of a great cross from the other full back Mark Hughes, Brett Rostron rose above the pack and headed into the net to double Roach’s lead.
