Roach Dynamos under 10s welcomed Walshaw Sports Club on Saturday 27th March with a superb playing surface awaiting both teams.
In a fantastic show of respect Walshaw lined up and asked Roach to line up to congratulate the champions every player passed and shook hands with one another, a great gesture from simon, bill and there players.
With the premier title in the bag Roach fielded a somewhat different formation with keeper and captain for the day Chris Brown given an outfield role, star striker Brad Lynch and team captain Ethan Littler both deputising in goal for a half each.
The first half saw a chance for Matthew Royle and Chris Brown to lead the attack in front of a midfield pairing of Jordan Parr and Ethan Littler.
This pairing in midfield provided great energy and strength against a strong first half wind, time and time again driving forward with pace beating players with ease and testing Walshaws keeper to the full.
One run in particular from Jordan Parr so deserving of a goal !! with the keeper beat the bar intervened in what would of been an absolute screamer.
Keeper come striker Chris Brown followed the midfielders example and worked tirelessly in behind front man Matthew Royle, showing a good touch and an enthusiasm that deserved praise.
Walshaw with the wind behind them playing some very nice football themselves grabbed the first goal with an excellently struck finish that stand in keeper Brad Lynch was left not a chance with.
Roach’s football against the wind deserved more and when a second Walshaw goal came they felt more than a little injustice.
None more so than the defenceive pairing of Alex Simpson and Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe who had coped admirably and played the ball out of defence with style.
Despite some very neat and tidy football Roach still found themselves with the difficult task of turning round a two goal deficit second half.
But this team never knows when its beat and this next half was to be all Roach.
The introduction of the pacey forwards Brad Lynch and Kai Miller gave Walshaw a lot to think about ??
Chris Brown moved to the right side of defence and proved an inspiration alongside Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe.
With Ethan Littler now in goal and performing admirably this trio proved to be rock solid and dealt with anything Walshaw attempted.
Corey Marsh was also on in midfield now to pair up with Alex Simpson after the unfortunate hand injury the tremendous Jordan Parr suffered.
And it was Corey Marsh who picked up where Jordan Parr had left off and took over the midfield, an inch perfect through ball from him found lightning quick forward Brad Lynch in behind the Walshaw defence to provide the coolest of finishes and put Roach right back in this game.
Minimal celebrations followed the team wanted to waste no time!! Ball back on the centre spot, what belief ! what desire ! what spirit ! and what football they played to get level.
Work-rate from Brad Lynch and Kai Miller upfront with sublime one, twos ,deft first touches, midfield support and an imposing defence, Walshaw just couldn’t cope.
Kai Miller unplayable, pass move, another killer pass, Brad Lynch another cool finish 2-2.
Only one winner now!!!! Roach sensed it ,Walshaw knew it, five minutes left.
A great solo run from Brad Lynch , a pile driver from Alex Simpson , a close thing from Kai Miller after a wonderful one touch passing move. NEARLY.
But who else than Mr cool Brad Lynch 27goals for the season two on the day already.
A perfectly timed tackle from Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe then a quick-fire ball into the path of surging midfielder Corey Marsh, who spotted the spin and run of Brad Lynch out wide on the left.
With Kai Miller coming in from the right the ball was on!! but so was the hat-trick.
Quick feet and movement saw the striker pass the last defender and from the tightest of angles drilled the ball past the keeper.
Cue the celebrations now(these lads watch to much telly lol)
Walshaw having put bags of effort into a great game were floored.
The final whistle arrived and a fitting end to a fantastic league campaign.
Two trophy’s secured after the FC.Utd tournament win with lots still to play for with Blackpool,Blackburn and a league cup still to come.
Today was a day to celebrate and all the lads were duly dowsed in champers with injured Adam Grimshaw careful not to get his cast and sling wet…speedy recovery Adam we miss you…………..Champions!!!!!! says it all really
Man of the Match…….
Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe absolutely outstanding never missed a tackle or put a foot wrong.
Moment of the Match……
The smile on keeper Chris Browns face playing outfield with Brads number 10 shirt on.
And what a performance from him in the defence second half!!!! got a feeling he,s going to give us some major ear ache now to play out again….
