Roach Dynamos under 10s claimed the North Bury Junior Football League Premiership title in tremendous style after a scintillating match with Pennine Juniors.
On a difficult surface because of an overnight deluge both teams put on a fantastic display of fast flowing end to end football in the driving rain.
Roach knowing a win would give them the title almost made the perfect start when striker Brad Lynch hit the inside of the post after a delightful through ball from Ethan Littler.
Pennine were pressing also and created some excellent openings themselves but it takes some finish to even get close to beating Roach’s formidable keeper Chris Brown, in the wet conditions his handling and distribution were outstanding.
The pairing in defence of Jordan Parr and Alex Simpson proved to be an inspired one as time and time again they timed their tackles and interceptions superbly, keeping Pennine at bay.
The opening goal was always going to be an important one and who else than Roach’s prolific marksman Brad Lynch should get it, after a great interception from Ethan Littler he played the ball out wide to Matthew Royle who delivered the perfect ball in for Brad Lynch to apply a sublime finish.
Roach’s tails were up now and midfield terriers Corey Marsh and Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe were doing a fantastic job in the middle of the park in winning possession back and feeding the ball in to the wide channels for Roach’s pacey forwards Kai Miller and Brad Lynch to exploit.
The second half got underway and this time it was all Roach with striker Brad Lynch getting his and Roach’s second minutes in to the half, and what a great solo effort it was; twisting, turning and beating two defenders before lashing the ball into the bottom corner.
Roach were flying now and a third wasn’t long in coming, a terrifically placed corner from Ethan Littler was met in emphatic style by Jordan Parr to power an unstoppable header into the back of the net.
Pennine had a mountain to climb now and the energy in the Roach midfield of captain Ethan Littler and Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe made their job even harder.
They did manage a consolation goal ten minutes from time to keep Roach on there toes and keeper Chris Brown marshalled his defence superbly well to prevent a nervy final few minutes.
Roach themselves could have added a fourth after a great run from Matthew Royle was halted by a last ditch Pennine tackle and with minutes to go a sweetly struck shot from the talented left boot of Kai Miller was just inches over the bar.
Full time and Roach are Champions a tremendous achievement and thoroughly deserved.
Special mention must go to Adam Grimshaw who through an unfortunate accident in breaking his arm Friday night couldn’t take part today but Roach would not be champions today if it was,nt for his outstanding contribution throughout the season.
The Roach lads all know this and were thrilled to see him there for kick off.
Man of the Match could of been any one from nine !! But overall on the day Brad Lynch deserved today’s award for his all action display, tireless work-rate and two classy finishes.
All season long he has been in great form and produced the finish week in week out.
Me and Scott would like to add how proud we are of not just winning the title but in the way in which it has been won, football of the highest calibre and a team spirit that is second to none………..Well done boys!!!!!!!CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!
