The open age second team just go from strength to strength, and yet another win this Saturday, kept them firmly in line for promotion this season. Roach entertained league leaders Hesketh Casuals from Southport, and put in their best performance of the season to win the game 4-1. The home side took the lead on seven minutes, courtesy of a slick finish from striker Ross Jones, but the visitors were awarded a penalty two minutes later which they converted to level the game. Roach though dominated, and the few attacks that Hesketh did have were duly snuffed out by the Roach defence, and a stunning performance from Alex Blunt. The pressure paid off, and just before half time Roach were awarded a penalty, and man of the match Dave Shackleton made no mistake. In the second period, Hesketh tried to bring the game to Roach, but Roach worked the counter attack well and created loads of chances. Brett Rostron made it 3-1 after a great move, and Danny Wolstenholme scored a cracker to round off the game and secure all three points for Roach.
