Roach Dynamos under 10s were in exceptional form yet again on Saturday 20th of February against a strong Marauders Tornadoes side that are also up there challenging for the Premiership title.
Roach having narrowly won the previous meeting between the two sides 1-0 new they were in for a tough mornings work, nearly got off to the perfect start when a sweet flowing move resulted in a header inch,s over the bar from Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe.
Roach were into there stride now and the opening goal was one for the scrapbooks !! Corey Marsh starting the move from full back shifting play from left to right, where a neat one-two between Ethan Littler and Alex Simpson gave the later space to attack down the right wing and provide a telling ball into the box that was met with a bullet of a diving header by the starter of the move Corey Marsh.
Roach looking comfortable on the ball and in control of the game never seemed under threat until a Tornadoes corner wasn’t cleared successfully and a Tornadoes forward stabbed home into the bottom corner of the net.
Roach from the restart looked even more determined, time and time again great work from Ethan Littler down the right hand side almost providing the chance for clinical striker Brad Lynch, the pairs link up play was proving hard for Tornadoes to deal with and with half time five minutes away it finally paid off when Brad Lynch found space in the box and rammed home a delightful ball in from Ethan Littler.
Roach should have gone into half time 2-1 to the good but agonisingly in the final kick off the half another Tornadoes corner was met unopposed and the resulting header left keeper Chris Brown with no chance.
Frustratingly for Roach, Tornadoes only two chances in the half had resulted in two equalisers.
All to play for second half and Roach upped the tempo from the off with Kai Miller proving a real inspiration moving into the space behind ever dangerous forward Brad Lynch.
A great interception and ball down the line from defender Adam Grimshaw found Brad Lynch who exchanged three neat passes with Kai Miller before slotting the ball past the advancing keeper…..great strikers finish.
It was all roach now and Alex Simpson found Brad Lynch in space twenty yards out from goal, with two defenders closing the space he showed a deft first touch that beat one defender before nutmegging the second defender and emphatically finishing low to Tornadoes keepers right to complete a superb hat-trick.
Roach were in total control now and with the rock solid defence of Corey Marsh, Adam Grimshaw and Jordan Parr keeper Chris Brown was mostly a spectator, the timely interceptions and ferocious tackling of these three lads at the back week in week out give the platform for the midfield lads and forwards to play there football.
4-2 but Roach weren’t finished yet and in particular forwards Brad Lynch and Kai Miller who combined to score what has to be one of the goals of the season, the build up play and cross by Kai Miller being met with a tremendous downward header that had Tornadoes keeper beat all ends up.
Nearly adding insult to injury the same Roach lads combined to score an almost identical goal !! This time Brad Lynch,s header some how being saved on the line.
Midfield trio Alex Simpson ,Ethan Littler and Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe bossed the game from start to finish, with energy and enthusiasm that opposing teams find hard to deal with.
A fantastically fluent team performance full of skill and commitment was rounded off in exquisite style with the cheekiest of chipped finishes from Brandon Kwei-Sutcliffe after an expertly weighted ball into the box from Kai Miller.
This was Roach at there best and Man of the Match could of been any one from nine ? But it was fittingly awarded to Kai Miller who had a stormer of a match from his first touch of the game to his top corner effort on goal in the last minute.
