Open Age 2nds - Match Report 6/2

The Open Age seconds travelled the short distance to Bury Grammar School Old Boys on Saturday, and following their 6-0 win a fortnight ago, were hungry for more. Roach were the best side in the first half, but could not find their composure, and despite this, came in 1-0 ahead courtesy of a goal from full back Mark Hughes. At half time the visitors regrouped, calmed down on the ball and got into their rhythm. Ryan Smith doubled the visitors’ lead, Ross Jones made it three, Aaron Boyle took it to 4-0, Brett Rostron converted a penalty after being fouled in the box, and then two quality goals – Hughes exquisitely chipping the keeper and Jones flicking in a cross made it 7-0 to Roach. Hughes was named man of the match, but Smith and centre half Alex Blunt were not far behind in the reckoning.
