Under 7s Black - Match Report 6/2

Roach Under 7s Black hosted Walshaw Park and were looking to return to winning ways. Roach dominated the game from start to finish and were far superior to their opponents in every department. Good work from Josh Brooks and Ethan Armstrong led to an opening for Ciaran Sherry but his shot fizzed past the post. Brooks and Armstrong were again in the thick of the action and their work let in Curtis Newsham who fired past the keeper to make it 1-0 to Roach. Nobody was expecting the flowing football and passing and movement that followed, least of all the Walshaw team as Armstrong, Sherry and Morris scored to make it 4-0 at half time.

Roach started the second half in the same fashion they finished the first, Newsham, Brooks and Armstrong all teasing the Walshaw defence and coming close to scoring. Armstrongs determined run and shot made it 5-0 and more goals followed from Brooks, Newsham, Sherry and Kieran McIlvenny to give Roach an emphatic 9-0 win. In spite of such a one sided scoreline, it was the quality of football that was most impressive not the scoreline, with every player putting in a solid performance. Man of the Match was Ethan Armstrong for a solid midfield performance.
