Roach faced Marauders Vulcans away on Saturday in what was a fiercely contested and nail biting match from start to finish. Both teams began strongly but it was Roach who opened the scoring early with a goal from Brad Lynch, Marauders though were quick to respond and equalized soon after. For the remainder of the first half, Marauders were the stronger team and scored another two making it 3-1 at the half time whistle. Roach began the second half with a mountain to climb but were determined not to be beaten and they came out stronger than ever and pretty soon their efforts were rewarded when Brad Lynch scored his second, putting Roach firmly back in the game. Roach, spurred on by this, continued on the offensive and it was not long before Brad Lynch got his hat-trick with a superb goal set up by Matthew Royle. With just five minutes remaining it looked like the game would peeter out into a 3-3 draw but suddenly a scrambled goal by Marauders made it 4-3 and it appeared that Roach would have to admit defeat, but this was not the case and Roach refused to give in and with 1 minute left to play Brad Lynch scored his fourth goal making it 4-4 at the final whistle, and ensuring Roach keep their place at the top of the table. Player of the match was awarded to Jordan Parr for his excellent defensive play.
