The under 18’s went made hard work of Sunday’s Lancashire County Cup, but progressed into the last 16 nevertheless. The under 18’s were involved in a thirteen goal thriller on Sunday, and their persistence and quality football meant that they came away with all three points. They entertained North Walkden and after just one minute, Robert Leyden gave Roach the lead. Due to injuries, Roach had just eleven players, but the lads did the club proud, working hard and playing good football for the whole 90 minutes. United in a friendly game last Wednesday, and under the bright floodlights of Manchester, Heywood was well and truly represented as Roach showed what a good footballing side they are.
